A co-worker had told me that using the /* +HASH_AJ */ hint for IN and the /* + HASH_SJ */ hint for EXISTS does not work - and that these hints only work for NOT IN and NOT EXISTS..
Whats worse, he said, that leaving the hints in the code would actually cause a downgrade in performance as innapropriate hints would negate oracles own explain plan.
