Oracle DBA Career Path

Complete newbie here folks and apologies for the intrusion.

I am looking to eventually make my way to becoming a DBA as it seems to be quite interesting. I don't currently work in this capactity, my background is hardware but what I'm looking for is a bit of advice.

What path should I follow to becoming a DBA i.e. SQL courses, Oracle courses etc. I don't even know at the moment what version of Oracle I should look at using i.e. should I become proficient in 10g before moving onto 11 or is it all much of a muchness.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi mate, like the user name. Been looking into this myself (currently mostly Crystal Reports). The way I'm about to start doing it is working towwards my OCA on 10g:
