Hello all,
I am trying to find out the typical size of a Oracle DB admins are running.
Are they >200GB, 300GB up to TB sizes or greater than that, etc.?

All help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
MN

Hi MostlyNuts!,

I all depends on the type, OLTP, OLAP, warehousing, Data Mart etc. I have seen the small one from 1-2GB up to TB etc. The average size in a typical banking environment, fron office equities is around 5-20GB with Back office (settlement and reconcilliation 200-500GB). In data warehousing we are talking serious TB. Some sectors like publications will require in excess of 1TB as well. Most of these run on traditional UNUX (Solaris mainly and AIX). On Linux the sizes are smaller due to Linux being fairly new and customer confidence on having mission critical stuff on Linux for now. That will change obviously.

Hope this helps

Thank sybaseguru, this is helpful. This at least gives me numbers to get me started on a doc.
Cheers!
