Hello all,

We have 2 different Oracle DBs on different boxes. DB 1 is on Oracle v 9i and DB 2 is on Oracle v 8i. I need to compare the table structures in these 2 DBs to find out if there have been changes in the DB structure.

To be more specific, we use 2 diff versions of an accounting package within the companyand I want to find out the diff in table structures between the 2 versions.

Is there a script that I can run that will give me the list of differences?

Thanks.

Hi,
Mostly that depends on what you mean by 'structure':
Table and Columns the same?
Other Objects ( indexes, constraints, triggers, etc)?
Data files, Tablespaces, ??
Can get very complex, depending on what you need...

Just tables and columns. I want to be able to tell what tables changed because of the application package upgrade.

Thanks !

Hi,
The best tool we have found to do that ( and much, much more) is T.O.A.D. from Quest software..

Can compare schemas or entire database instances..
