Is anyone running Oracle and Sybase on the same RS/6000?
If so, do you experience any problems with it?
Thanks in advance! Says the Manager to the person that invented the modem: "Tell me again why you need two prototypes?!?"
A while back e had a project that tried this and ran into difficulties. I wasn't involved in the project so I know very few details.
This is what I heard.
The project team had problems because of the way Sybase binds itself to a processor so tightly. To all of the processors apparently. This did not leave much cpu for Oracle to use.
I can't vouch for this information at all, it might be that the boxes were just undersized or that the Sybase DB was just stunningly busy, or misconfigured, or something.
