Oracle Advanced Queues

Have an issue at hand and I turn again to my Gurus!!!

I need to interface Oracle Database with a Java application via Queues. There is a talk to create an application external to the database that would use some API calls in order to send the data read from the database via queues to the Java application.

I plan to use Oracle Queues, but donot know where to start. Any directions!!!

Go to otn.oracle.com, I saw an article right about such kind of application last year.
