Hi.

I have an NT 4.0 (SP6) server box that is not connected to the network that I am installing Oracle 8i on. I want to set up this machine and test everything to make sure it works before even trying to connect it to the network. I'm using the Oracle database as the back-end for a product called SmarTeam.

The Oracle installation works fine, it's when I get to the database creation step that it chokes: I get either a ORA-12560: TNS protocol adapter error or a ORA 03113: end-of-file on communication channel......

The database creation usually gets about 2% finished before it dies. One time (creating a database from copy on CD) it got about 85% complete and then died.

Thanks in advance for the help.

hi Sandy,
Reconfigure your network card on NT. Then reload the oracle. This problem is due to ethernet card on your machine.
good luck...
