let me start with saying HELP, ok now we have 5 servers running Citirx and we're using oracle 7.34 and a microsoft odbc driver. the citrix servers are supposed to connect to the db and store logging info but it's not working. we first found out that ms had a bug (of course) that slowed the servers down to snails pace. so we fixed that with a patch now we're unable to connect to the server from the citrix pc's.

what is a way to check communication between oracle server and client? what advice do you have if any? I'm new to oracle and we had outsourced a co to set this up which now will not support it.

TIA

run sqlplus on the server - can you get in ?
run sqlplus from the citrix pc - can you get in ?

What error messages (if any) do you get ?

is that from the server or the pc or both ?

If its ok from both then its citrix thats at fault somewhere and thats when I hope someone else can help !

on the DB server I can log in just fine, it's when I'm on the citirx server I cant connect. gives an error of database not reached, or odbc driver is not install (which it is) the only thing that changed recently was the install of oracle which killed the server performance but worked with the db and then the patch which killed the db connection. now I've uninstalled the patch with the older files and I still cant connect remotely. from the console all is fine, i.e. I can login with the remote password/user account but I cant do it remotely
