Oracle 10g certification OCA - which books

I am interested in the Oracle 10g certification.

To start Associate(OCA) programme I'm trying to work out the
feasibility of it in terms of costs & time that will be taken.

I can't afford to pay for instructor led courses. So I shall be studying from home for the OCA. I don't have exposure to an Oracle
system at work, so it will be ALL from home.

My questions are :

- Can this study be done at home without a training course?
- Which books do I need? Is there one single book that I can use like
in the case of Microsoft Courses. Oracle suggest the following books(rescources) :

Do I really need all these rescources just for the OCA?

Please can you provide me with advice to at least set the foundations
for a private study program.

For the 10g OCA, the candidate must pass one exam numbered 1Z0-042. Go to Amazon.com and search for that exam number.
