Hi,
I'm triyng to backup with the oraback script.
The script says that i dont have enough privileges.
I'm running this under with root so....?

root: # oraback.sh prodenv
==============================================================
Oracle database backup started on quality: 16:04:26 10/22/2001
==============================================================

Creating table of contents for this backup...
Then placing it as a file called oraback.sh_prodenv_10_22_2001 on
(and verifying that is set to NO-REW...)

Checking the status of Oracle instance prodenv..
Oct 22 16:04:34 quality oraback.sh prodenv: WARNING: ORA-01031: insufficient privileges ORA-01012: not logged on
Oracle instance prodenv appears to be down...
grep: 0652-033 Cannot open /oradata9/temp/prodenv/logfile.list.
Usage: basename String [Suffix]
Oracle instance prodenv is supposed to backed up live...
Oracle instance prodenv WILL NOT be backed up...
(It is down and there are no backup config files in
/oradata9/temp/prodenv from a previous run of oraback.sh)
Label the tape in /dev/rmt1: "oraback.sh_prodenv_10_22_2001".

Backup tape ejected at 16:05:06 22/10/01

===============================================================
Oracle database backup ended on quality: 16:05:07 10/22/2001
===============================================================

It says the instance is down but it's not.

These are the groups root is in:
system,bin,sys,adm,security,cron,audit,dba,oper,oinstall

Nothing gets backed up.
Can someone please help me?

In order to get anywhere with this we need to see the code of oraback.sh

Alex

This is a very big script.
If you want i can mail it to you.

Looks like an Oracle error.
You need to check the script to see how you are connecting to the database.

According to that (horrendous !!!!!) script, svrmgr is used to connect to the database. You should be running with the oracle user not root.

Try it and let me know what happens

Alex
