Dear Frends plz help me with this problem

when ever i try to connect through the forms r reports(Developer 2000 forms5 & Oracle 8 , windows XP, server machine in workgroup) it requires some service to connect (though both the DB and forms reside on the same machine) after getting through this problem i created a service using SQL net easy. it solved my problem and i became able to connect to the DB.

but till then it hardly runs abt a month and the problem is again there, again i would delete the service and create a new one to connect.

but now recreating the service too is not solving my problem.

i've also tried copying the same TNSNAMES.ORA to both the NET80 & NETWORK folders.

plz help me getting rid of this persistent problem.

when i try to run the listner through start "orc1" (service name) it returns me error, that listner doesnt contain my service name.

2ndly i couldnt understand ur question From which Oracle home was the utility? r u asking abt listner, if so i think it was in my DB home ie D:\ORANT

** i'm much confused on that Why this problem happens again and again after once its resolved.

You should configure your sql*net both on server and on client side. The fact that they reside on the same box doesn't matter a lot, because each Oracle home uses its own settings. That's why I asked whether you've configured sql*net client located in Forms home.
Your problem may be listener-related. Once you have no explicit entries in listener.ora file, your database may still "register" as a service during startup, but if you restart your listener, it obviously looses this information.
