ORA-01023 Cursor context not found (Invalid cursor number)

I get the above error message when trying to establish a native connection using crystal 8.5 w/Oracle 8i PE on a w2000 pro machine. I can connect via ODBC just fine. Anyone ever encounter this error before and how did you fix it? Thanks in advance !!
 
I was able to connect to 8i (not PE) without problems, but 9i required that I use ODBC.

You might try OLE DB for Oracle, I've switched to using OLE DB in lieu of ODBC as ODBC is a dying technology, and I cannot use direct connectivity using SQL Server 2000.
