Hi,

Can anyone tell me why I am getting this error.
ORA-00936: missing expression (DBD ERROR: OCIStmtExecute/Describe

I am running a perl script on HP11.00 and DBD-Oracle-1.06.

The same script runs fine on our other box which runs on HP 10.20 and DBD-Oracle-1.06.

Thanks in advance

Sridhar

How about giving us some code - include your connect statement, and the SQL statements that are giving you problems - with the DBI commands.

Also, what versions of Perl and DBI do you have?

One tool you can use to help find out what the problem might be is the DBI "trace" method. Read the DBI perldocs by doing "perldoc DBI", and search for(using the slash "/") "trace".

Could you also include details of the versions of Oracle you are running?

One thing that you could easily try is to attempt to run the troublesome SQL statement in SQL/Plus. The error looks data-related to me, as if data on your HPUX 11 system is different to that on the 10.20. Print the statement out on each system, just before it's executed, and compare the two outputs. Mike
