I'm getting this message in MS Access 97 when linking to Oracle 7.3.3 tables using Net8 and the Oracle ODBC driver 8.0.5.8.0
It works fine on two machines but on another it will connect to the database, show the available tables, views, let me link one, prompts me for fields for a key and creates the linked table. The above error only occurs at the very end when the linked Access table is opened, to try to see the data.
Any ideas ???? [sig][/sig]

ORA-00911: invalid character

Cause: Special characters are valid only in certain places. If special characters other than $, _, and # are used in a name and the name is not enclosed in double
quotation marks ("), this message will be issued. One exception to this rule is for database names; in this case, double quotes are stripped out and ignored.

Action: Remove the invalid character from the statement or enclose the object name in double quotation marks.

So what is the difference between the 2 godo machines and the misbehaving one ? My first instinct would be something to do with language sets etc. [sig]
Best of Irish Luck, David.
djwilkes@hotmail.com
[/sig]
