OPX extensions and Ip Office

We just installed an IP Office 406 with 30 port digital
and 16 port Analog (Station) module ...we are passing an
analog extension (X300)to the carrier ...(circuit type
is osna (off site non amplified ??)the pbx at the other end is a Toshiba DK280 ...its does not ring or flash when called from the IP office site to site B yet the user at the far can jsut depress the key and pick up the call even though it does not show as ringing or in use (we get RNA until trunk is picked up

Yet they can depress the line key marked as x300 (receive our intercom tone)and call any phone and have it ring ok at this end ...we removed the system 25 and just rewired to telco as before so no changes should have to be made to the Toshiba (ie ringing or line key programming)....are there any special settings we can make from the ip office on the analog portion to maybe boost the signal ?? just fishing for something ....I may even have to go to the far end and push a Toshiba Analog Extension back towards the Ip Office and install as a TRUNK to see if it works that way

Like noted before we removed a System 25 and Installed a
Ip Office in place ...the system 25 past off an Analog Extension and it worked ??? they are going to in the future
switch out the Toshiba for an IP Office

I would recommend checking the OPX USER (x300) in the Telephony tab. Set the ringing to RING TYPE 1 instead of Default. This will force a long ring. I've had issues w/ analog stations that run long ranges and this was the fix. Plus, their PBX might not like the double-ring the IPO is sending it, and therefore ignoring it.

Good call Kris, I would vote that is probably it.

If not - it may be that the IPO pots16 is not pushing a strong enough ringing signal to make it the distance you're trying to send it over the opx, whereas the system 25 may have used a stronger ringing signal. Worst case you could probably engineer a fairly simple booster at the toshiba end. A Cap to filter the DC and pass the AC ringing signal, convert that back to DC with a bridge and use that DC to flip a relay which allows 90VAC from a ringing voltage generator would do the trick.

I went to the far end site B (Toshiba) although I was receiving my intercom tone from the Ip Office I got No ringing / ring voltage on either
OPX (actually 2 numbers)
Could it be possible that the carrier could Boost the signal as for the info you provided sounds great but seems to be a lot of work just to pass on the Ringing Voltage ...the circuits they (carrier) are using uses out dated equipment ( they have issues with finding parts for their
osna equipment when they blow cards ...customer had relayed
this to me because its happened in the past where it had taken a week or so to find spare cards)
I get good ring voltage leaving the Ip Office (tested at
dmarc leaving building after all equipment but none or very
weak at the far end ...so Peter you are right on but what you stated is above anything I have done ....will try and put it in the carriers hands :)

meters at 48 volts on-hook on both ends ......

What about the old 0ff-premise Range extenders module
CIB 3125 (122C) that Avaya use to have would this work in this case ...I though they were used with magix and Partner
systems .. actually its about a 25 mile distance between sites and the extender only goes up to 17,000 ft acourding to the booklet not sure if it would work either way ??

Hang on - 25 miles over a non-amplified circuit??? I'm flabergasted any portion of it works at all, and equally dumbfounded it worked with the system25.

Your customer will probably have to pay more each month, but you're almost certainly going to need to change opx circuit types to something amplified.

If you have a WAN connection between sites you could sub a small capital investement for the monthly charges and hang a voip gateway in front of the toshiba and connect voip to the ipo instead.

btw the solution I mentioned above will only amplify a weak ringing signal. If you're getting 0 vac at the far end you're out of luck.

The Ip Office(analog pots station ringing) meters at about 40v rms a typical pots trunks through the carrier is 85v rms ...I metered both before any kind of wiring I then wired a regular POTS trunk through the OPX circuit and it was enough to ring the far end on both OPX circuits
So you where right about not enough ring voltage I would
have thought it would be the same as a "trunk port"
they both meter at 48v ....this is also the reason the LOUD
BELL in the shop area does not ring its looking for 85v rms as well.
I will see if I can find some ringing voltage generator for the 2 opx lines and 1 for the Loud Bell to bump them up

Ok, thanks for the heads up on this. It is the same deal on Legend/Magix btw. The regular 012 and 016 (and top 4 ETR ports configured for analog operation) push out less than industry standard voltages all around. You need to use the more expensive 008OPT (OPX) cards if you want standard voltages, which you need for some applications - even on-premise ones sometimes. Discovered that the hard way when replacing a mitel with a magix for a company developing top-secret telephone bugging gear for CSIS (canadian CIA).

I found a GREAT Product by Viking Electronics its called
Long Loop Adapter

*Just wire S/L extension into Adaptor and wire out to OPX pairs provided by carrier .....brings voltage up to 81-85
rings PERFECT on Both OPX Trunks to Toshiba Phone system
30 miles away .....They were real nice to Talk to
GREAT WORK AROUND IF NEEDED !!
