can anyone tell me what the usb port is for on these phones...

Some of our users have found them and want to plug them into their pc's

I cant find anyting in the optipoint manual or the realitis manual...

Hi

The USB port on the Optipoint 500 (basic, standard & advance models) is for connection to a PC in the main. There is a Siemens TAPI application called "Uniclient". This brings control of the Optipoint phone to the PC (via USB) and looks rather like a VoIP PC soft Client to the eye. Uniclient can be integrated with MS Outlook for click & dial from the contacts database for example.

Best Regards

I probably know the awnser already....

but is the uniclient software free????

Hi mattyjenks

As far as I know, there is little charge if any and there are no "end-user" licencing constraints. Once installed however, I think the onus is pretty much placed on the "customer" in resolving any problems arising (ie: Ongoing support is limited due to the application generally being resident on customer supplied equipment). I'd suggest contacting Siemens though for the full story.

Best Regards

gedii.
