Hi!

I have a user with a V480 attached to a FastT700 array via a Qlogic (Sun-branded) XPCI1FC HBA. They use Solaris 8 with SDS.

I am trying to generate a solution to employ aggragation and/or failover with a 2nd HBA. However I don't believe this combination will work or be supported with Traffic Manager or Alternate Pathing.

I believe the combination of server, HBA's, McData switch and array with firmware upgraded will support Veritas VM with DMP, but not with SDS.

Can anyone confirm or deny my suspicions?

Regards

RDAC is the only supported Multi-pathing software supported for FAST 700 and Qlogic.

I had a look into Raid Manager but there was no mention of FastT - do you have a URL pointer?

I have found something a bit more definitive about Veritas DMP support for Solaris, but no note about HBA's supported;

DMP on Solaris is supported with the FastT700, though an upgrade to FastT Storage Manager version 8.4 is required to enable this( and the firmware on the array must be version 5.4.x.xx.xx or above.

I'm not too surprised about there being no specific SDS support for FastT - Veritas is more often found and isn't proprietry.

reclspeak is correct, Veritas DMP is the key.

Veritas - DMP
EMC - PowerPath
HDS - DLM
IBM - RDAC
