Is there a way a user can press "x" to automatically be transfered to a user's cell phone, home phone, etc? I know I can setup a CCR, but I only have 8 of them .... lots more VM users ... any other options?

If using the CallPilot interface, 9 will transfer to the outside number. If using NVM, it's 7.

Make sure outbound transfer is enabled in the class of service, the outdial type needs to be route, and make sure the active application DN's have access to the proper trunks. Then configure your outbound transfer options in the users mailbox.

Beware when using this feature.
It does open the VM to potential Toll Fraud.

There are several newsgroups on the internet dedicated to a practice known as "Phreaking" AKA phone system hacking.
Google the term some time and see what comes up. I work several cases per week dealing with Toll Fraud and all of them are related to Outbound Transfer on the VM being comprimised.

Very true. Typically what I'll do is build a restriction filter that only allows calls to the destination numbers that need to be reached (cell phones and/or pagers if off premise notification is needed). Then, apply that filter to the active application DN's. It's a bit of work, but the customer is usually more than happy to add/delete from the restriction filters as people come and go rather than pay for unatuhorized calls.

It's a bit of work to initially set up, but it's a decent level of security for the people who insist on having 1234 or their extension number be their mailbox password.

I'm personally awaiting BCM 4.0 where there will finally be a "trivial password" detection feature in CallPilot.

Good info to know ... good thing we don't pay for calls ;-)

Somebody will have to pay when they get hit for a 10k bill.

Someone will pay something when the state department or CIA comes knocking at the door wondering why your organization is calling every country in the middle east for hours at a time.... :)

I'll be like; it was cause we couldn't afford an IP office like I speced .. Talk to the CEO. =)
