Option to continue holding or leave message 2

Is there a way / workaround to make an auto attendant option have an announcement to remain on the line to hold for the next rep, or press a certain option to exit to voicemail or back to the main menu?

You could set your DIAL ZERO Time Out to go to a calling group with those options.

This is a group calling overflow option--you'd need an 'announcement' device to make it work.

If you're using Merlin Messaging, you may already have the announcement device, but jgideon is right, the option is not with the autoattendant, but with a calling group with some sort of annnouncement. The PBX puts the call on hold, not the autoattendant.

We do have Merlin Messaging 4.
How would I know if I have what I need?

Are you referring to a music on hold device? we have that too.
We also have primary and secondary delay announcements set up for the group of involved extensions.
