As I don't have Sheridan panels to work with as I did when I use to work in VB, I use the Option Group control to group my command buttons.

The oddest thing is occuring - if you click onto the edge of the option control the command buttons disappear. This gives the user quite a shock and so I need to find out what is causing this problem.

And even it doesn't stop there, as I have actually two (2) option controls in the header of my form, you can alternate between each control and make the buttons disappear. To retrieve them back the user only has to click anywhere on the details section of the form.

PS Don't laugh!!! How does one insert their email address to display the hyperlink?

It sounds like your command buttons are not contained within the Option Group. Normally, you put controls in an option group so that the group will ensure only one option is chosen at a time. You normally place check boxes, option buttons (which work a little differently from command buttons), or radio buttons in an option group.

I guess you're using the option group just to provide a frame around your command buttons, for visual appeal. You can't actually put command buttons in an option group.

What's happening is that, when you click the frame, that brings the control to the front. The option group occupies the whole space within the frame. When you bring it to the front, it's drawn on top of the buttons, which covers them up.

You can easily fix this by changing the option group's BackStyle property to Transparent.

In the future, to get a frame around your command buttons, you'd be better off using a Rectangle control, possibly with a small Label control on top of it. The rectangle has no user interface and doesn't have to control other controls, so it's smaller and leaner than an option group. You can change the properties of the rectangle (and label) to look just like the option group. Rick Sprague

Rick,

I bit the bullet late last night and got rid of the option group command button as you suggest and replaced with a rectangle with the backcolour black as if it was the original control.

Thanks for explaining the reasons for the behaviour!
