Option 61c Core Card Slots

Can someone explaine to me or tell me where I can find information on how to define / determine what card slots are for what on the Option 61c? I need to clean up a system but I'm not sure what I can take out since none of the cards are marked.

You need to be a little clearer in what you asking. If the card is being used you can't take it out.

They should all be marked with the NT number

They have their NT numbers and most of the cards are MSDL cards, but their not marked what devices they are for and all the cables are zip-tied in the cabinets. So I just want to disable the itemss that are not needed(if any) and remove the cards. Trying to find room to add a dual port PRI card with a DDCH card and loops that look like they should be available, have cards in the slots. Thats why I'm trying to remember how to define the card slots. I know core 0 is 0 to 15 and core 1 is 16 to 31. I can't remember how to configure and or determine anything else with these slots. It's been about 15 years.

Post a bayface of cores 0 & 1 and also a print of CEQU and
ADAN in LD 22.

print your cequ, that tells you all the built slots in the cores. a lot of cards only have the nt number but below the card slot you may have a lable cni, 3pe, cmdu etc.. there are not a lot of options in the core.. print the supl's in 97, you may have some extra network cards.. or t1 cards, but red lights are a pretty good clue.. if you can not id a card by site you may want help with this one

If you are considering removing MSDL's go to ld 48 and do a stat on MSDL.
Then stat the specific MSDL's to find out what is on them.

True, but other things beside DCH could be on the card.

right, both commands help paint the picture.. i was cleaning one up decades ago, being very carefull. started to leave and the customer asked if i knew ccr was down.. did a u-turn, found a book on ccr because i had never heard of it.. seems it needed that aml i outed... back then we kept paper copies, so at least i had not skipped that step..

i try to keep a clean switch, and try to help anyone else cleaning one up.. to many techs don't seem to care

OK guys. I'm going to try and go to this customer today or tomorrow to see what cards are in what slots. I'm trying to add a dual port PRI card with a DDCH daughter board to this system. According to the CEQU, it looked like slot 18/19 was open. When I got there to put the card in there was a MSDL card with the cables marked as TTY 9 and TTY 11. This made no sense. The last time I had to add or build an Option 61 was around 1992. I was able to put the dual port PRI card in slot 0/1 of core o and was able to build PRI loops 0 and 1. The D channels I could only build as DNUM 12 and 13. I'm not sure if this is going to work, that's why I'm asking for help. Scheduled cut-over is Thursday 4-5-07.

Did you try a loopback to see if the channels come up and the DCH comes up and drops with "RLS Wrong Mode"?

MSDL requires back plane, not logical slot, that is why you can slot one next to a NET card, even though the super loop card is using all 4 slots, it is left or right in the SLP common equipment shelf, so there can be a MSDL beside it. Eyes on check good idea.

the msdl can go in any slot.. you can put it between two network cards if one in left and the other right.. that was the purpose of that prompt in the supl. the msdl takes it's address from the switch setting not the backplane

Thanks Guys! After reading the postings and going back to the site today, I started looking at everything and then it all clicked back into my head. Both PRI's are up and communicating with the Cisco system at the other end. The only problem now is that when the Cisco system trys to dial out on th Option 61c, they get a fast busy and the tech says he shows "Traffic Congestion" on the D channel. Not sure what is causing that but, I'm going back there tomorrow to test. Again, Thank You.
