Hi!

I'm having issues with an early model Option 61, Rls. 21.85. We reset the CPU but the problem still persists.

There is an error on the switching cores... I tried LD 135/137 to diagnose but I get garbage message, see below:

The error received is:

DROL001 CCED LD135 END 00:07 21/4/2016
CCED218 Cannot SCPU: A stdby core resource(s) has a fault

Initially we noticed the diskette is not reading because when we back up the database in LD 43 it fails... is there any issue on this or is there a faulty component on the CPU? The card model of the HArd disk is NT5D20BA.

For now it's in maintenance mode so only 1 (one) CPU is running.

Any thoughts on this? any additional info required to isolate the issue i can re-post?

Thanks very much!

What you might need to do is to try and access the CPU via the Mntce serial port on the back. I think it was the J23 or J25 port that is found after the rear back panel is removed.

If after connecting, you don't see any output, then it's likely that the hard disk has suffered. If you use the same method on the serial port for the active CPU, you should be able to log in via one of the two ports mentioned above and this will be using one of the two CPSI TTY ports.

You might have to try and see if you can disable the switches on the standby CPU card and remove it to check it out. A reset of the card might be worth trying out.

Failing that, you might try to load up the install floppy disk in the standby CPU from the CPSI TTY port (J23 or J25) to see if the floppy device works and if it takes you to the install menu to then offer you the chance to reload the installation software again.

I'm guessing that you still have the original installation floppy disks etc?.

Thanks for the fast response, highly appreciate it.... I'll create a checklist based on your advise and approach it step by step.

I'll have to dig up the installation diskettes from our archives (hoping it won't come to this :D)

I'll let you know..

Again thanks! :)

Providing you disable the cards prior to removal, you won't affect the existing CPU. This is one of the good things about the dual processors. The chances are that your hard disk is on the way out or has failed. I'm not sure if your particular release has the dongle installed or the cartridge fitted. If you have to go through the process of replacing the CPU, then please remember to swap out either of these components as it's easily forgotten.

Does your CPU have a CD-ROM fitted or is it all floppy disks?.

J25 is the port you want for a terminal connection. It sounds like you will be reloading the software and possibly replacing hardware.

Hi All!

Thank you for the input, we're using the floppy 3 1/4 diskette drive.

The procedure is still up for schedule so now I'm doing my checklist.. I'll let you know

:D

Hi All!

Thanks for the assistance it was great, the system is now gracefully switching, we've tapped into the CDR port to Stat and restart everyting in 135/137.

Although we noticed errors coming out, also the floppy is intermittent, sometimes it backups up (need a new floppy disk?)

below are the errors and I also attached a captured log for additional reference.
