We had a power outage yesterday and lost the CMDU hard drive. When power restored the hard drive will not come back. We have located a replacement CMDU card with a formatted hard drive from another system. What is the procedure to get my switch back up? Will I be able to install that other drive and re key all the data base or will i have an opportunity to restore the saved data from the disk drive?

As long as you have the Keycode sheet, the system CD's and a current floppy disk backup, you'll be fine. You'll do a system load and restore your backup during the restore, and the system will reboot with that last backup data. Done.

Thanks DOCVIC, but I do not have the system disks or CD and only have the backup disk. Will I have to rekey all the data?

You'll need the CD's and a keycode sheet for this system, to reload software to a replacement hard drive. The dongle on the CMDU is keyed to all of this. Call your local vendor right away.

The CDMU and hard drive came off another system and we are trying to set up on this replacement will it come up?

no, without any install disk, and the keycodes you will not be able to rekey the data..

ifyou can find an install disk the same rls, you can get the keycodes from nortel.. but you have to have both of those...

long shot, i've done this 3 times, it worked twice.. pull the disk from the dead drive, install them in the new drive.. 99 percent of the time, your data's intact, just the hardware side of the cmdu is gone

Are you talking about the data cartridge on the CDMU?

no, the disk off of the hard drive or since it;s a cmdu, just the hard drive itself.. the cart has to move or it will not boot
