I am curious to get a reaction to the following scenario. We have a large number of PRIs that do not go to our switch. They are directed into equipment for internet dial-up users to connect. Our voice traffic is via COT ground start lines. During the day our PRIs are not heavily utilized and I would like to use one of them for voice instead of the COT lines. This would give us the benefit of caller ID etc. Thus I would like to consider a scenario in which one of the PRIs is hooked into the 11c and have the 11c pass the call back to the modem equipment if the inbound number is not our voice number. Does this sound feasible? Or is there another scenario that would allow us to use one PRI as a shared resource? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

You would need a link back to your modem equipment DPNSS, Q Sig. You would also need to forward or transfer your COT numbers on to the PRI link. Are the modem numbers a singl enumber with muliple lines i.e AUX working or DDI either way you would then need to set up a config. to route these across the modem link. If they are AUX then set up a route with AUTO Terminate and send them to the Modem link or if they are DDI perhaps use CDP to route them

Wayne67,
Thanks. The idea if it is feasible is to drop the COT lines (but transfer the main number to one of our existing PRIs). We would move this existing PRI to our 11c onto an NTAK09. If the modem users, who dial a different number, roll into the PRI connected to the 11c then the call is routed back to the modem gear. The modem gear is Bay (Nortel now) 5399 remote access modules by the way. One person on another board has suggested it is possible if we have a second NTAK09. Again am I on the right track? Thanks in advance for any insight into this.

That`s correct you need a digital link card is the 09 a TDI card ? Does your Nortel 5399 handle a PRI link he will you need this to connect on to the Op 11
