Only when transferred during express messaging, you get an automated annoucement of the extension before the greeting.

For example:

dial express messaging
enter extension
girl talks,
hit pound

End user hears:

Extension 1234, then the recorded message.

You don't hear it on internal or external calls, only through EM.

How do I make it go away?

strange place to hear the lady in the box, and not here it anywhere else.. the lady lives in the mail. do you have mer mail or call pilot? either way look at the cos for the user in questions.. if play number is your choice, then you should here ext 4940, if name is highlighted then IF a name is recorded, you will here the name.. mine plays the recording and i don't see any prompts in the voice service dn table (where you set the express msg dn) that would effect it.......

I think you're hearing the ext. during exp mesaging because the voicemail is verifying you're express messaging the correct party. If you just went straigt to the person's greeting you'd have to hang up and start all over if you inadvertently express messaged the wrong person. And, if the person who is being called records their name, then that's what the callee (??) would hear, instead of the ext. At least that's how I remember it being, although it has been quite some time.

I have mer mail, not call pilot.

So, basically, there is no way to turn it off?

We are an executive suite. We answer the phones for 50 companies and extensions mean very little. It is an annoyance.

Thanks again,
