We are presently looking at connecting a building just off our main campus area. I'm trying to determine the most cost effective solution to adding analog phone lines to that building that would be on our Option 11C. The distance to that building is just under a half mile or roughly 2600 feet from the wiring closet in that building to the PBX room in our administration building. We currently have analog phones that run through underground cables throughout our complex and the furthest ones are roughly 2000 feet from the PBX room. Will analog over copper work at this distance with the standard NT8D09BA analog cards we have? Our Option 11C has two cabinets. Is adding a third cabinet via fiber at that distance feasible? If it is would anyone know a ballpark estimate as to how much it would cost?

I've had 500 sets over a mile away and they worked fine.

ace nailed it, we have thousands working close to a cable mile at my site.. and they may ops(off primise station) cards that push it to 5 miles... i have digital sets over 2600..
