Customer moved and service provider delivered loop start lines instead of ground. We requested the ground start lines and now we are screwed. The building has facility issues and we recieved only analog lines which were delivered on a 1 to 4 multiplex service..... I did change my trunks to LOP start and can make calls out but am unable to get the MM to answer the calls.... is there anybody that uses LOP who has had success????? I have already told the customer that problems are very likely to occur and they understand.... I am going to look into the loop to ground converters, but until then,,,, any suggestions....?????? Thanks !!!!!!!!!

I would make sure that the new service provider had the local number portability correct. Put your test set on the trunk and call the main number see if you get the call. If you don't the LMP is wrong.

Are the calls coming to the MM? I find it hard to believe the it won't answer calls. Have you put a BUTTSET on the trunk and called it to see if the call is ringing the trunk.

Put the BUTTSET on the trunk and dial 18004444444 and make sure the number your calling is the number on the trunk.

I should have mentioned that calls are hitting the system when I call it. My test set does ring but MM does not answer...
One thing I forgot to check, which I need to check, is if there is a dip switch setting on the card for loop or ground.
Unfortunately we do not have the books for the Option 11 mini.
Do you know the dip switch settings if there are any...???
Thanks for your reply guys.....Any more info will be appreciated....

To go to MM, you need to set Trunk auto term in the RDB to yes and on the trunks to the Vmail DN.

If you don't get the trunk's changed to Grd start, you are going to have problems with all your trunks locking up all the time.

If you are using NT8D14xx universal trunk cards, there are no dip switch settings for loop/ground start, you can try changing the trunk programming from XUT to EXUT (would have to change every tn on that card)if you have the EXUT card(s)
But in the end the best fix is to have the trunks changed to
Ground start by the CO, loop start trunks do not work well on a PBX, you have no disconnect supervision and if they are used for inbound and outbound calls, you could have somebody
accidently answer an inbound call while trying to make an outbound call.

Thanks Ace and Inform

I will verify the programming in the RDB and it will be easy to change the trunks to EXUT since there are only 6 trunks.

The card in the switch is actually a NTMW07aa for a Option 11 mini. Any information on dip switch settings on it?

I will be going back up there tomorrow (monday) to hook up a couple of analog phones just so the reception can answer the lines until it is taken care of...

Actually if that is what the part # is of the card, then you have an Option 11 Compact, not a Mini, they are two
completely different beasts as far as hardware is concerned,
we only have one customer that has one. I will see if I can
find some Docs on switch settings, but changing to ground
start should be a priority.

Loop start/ground start is detemined by software programming, this card provides 4 analog lines and 4 trunk lines, make sure you are crossconnected to the right ports
on the MDF.
