If you set the message expiry for, like a day, then the messages would be dumped I think.... any message that has been listened to by the user, will be scheduled to be deleted.
You might be able to by backing up without the messages (Data, not voice) and restoring... but that's a gamble.

When we had to delete 100s of messages in a mailbox but, for one reason or another, were asked not to delete the mailbox, we used this method:
Create an audio recording of DTMF 762 that plays into a phone a set number times. Then walk away while it works. The end of the recording was an 83 to disconnect.
You can create a batch file that runs the wav file a specified number of times.
You have to be careful to to exceed the number of messages, because if you have 50 messages and dial 762 one hundred times, you'll delete the 50 messages, then restore the same 50 messages.
