If a customer wants to go from an Option 11C Rel. 25.? to a CS1000E, and they are keeping most of the programming the same, Is there a way to do a backup to a CF card and load that on the new CS1000E call server.

Thats how you do an upgrade, you don'r reprogram everything.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Thanks, haven't done this type of upgrade before. Is it in the NTP's?

You should get the info with the upgrade kit.

This is a hardware and software upgrade. You will need to know whats going on before you attempt this. You can find NTP's and review but its not straight forward like a regular upgrade.

The database is tranfered into a large system format
loop shelf card unit during the upgrade.

With Nortels upgrades this one may be a two step upgrade. First you may need to upgrade to a 1000M rls 3.0 then onto the 1000E rls. 5. When you order your upgrade package from your vendor the package will include all hardware, software, and step by step doc's (rls 5 NTP CD's). Ask your vendor for the parts breakdown of the upgrade package.

Well thanks for all the responses but they are really not doing an upgrade. They are replacing the Opt 11 with a new CS1000E. Totally using all new equipment. Might be easier just to reprogram from scratch, very small system.

There's no maybe about it. start from scratch.

when you install the new 5.0 software, choose option 'D' to "Upgrade a Small System Database". This will prompt you for an archive on the RMD and automatically convert the databse to a format usable by a CS1000E hardware platform. This will save you 90% of the time compared to starting from scratch.

hope this helps
