Hi, we have an old Option 11c (23.47) in the workshop for testing and possible connection to an Asterisk server by PRI. We have only got a basic lapw password so only limited access. We'd like to get level 2 password to get better access but as it's not maintained and I haven't used pdt we thought maybe we could reload the software back to a new install with default passwords. So next problem is we don't have the software, can get a pcmcia card ok though. Can anyone suggest how we can get the s/w and how to load it on the pcmcia. I've looked after option 81's for the last 10 years but always had a mtce contract so never had to do this myself before, steep learning curve. Don't mind reprogramming everything once reloaded, we can get it to how we want it then. Any advice much appreciated.

Regards,
Steve

Well you could F-BUG the Option 11 it wipes everything off the switch, like getting it just out of the box! As far as reloading software you will need to know what package your Option 11c has as well as the keycodes that go with the security dongle on your SSC card. Don't know where you can get the software though, you might want to contact your vendor. I don't have the F-bug steps memorized but i can post it tomorrow! Sorry i can't be more help.

Here is the F-bug steps...

# 1 type <CNTRL> B – During the beginning of the sysload, this will invoke FBUG

#2 at the Fbug type CT

#3 at the main test menu select T for troubleshooting

#4 at the troubleshooting menu select 8 for flash test menu

#5 at the flash test menu select 6 for erase flash drive on DB

Note: selecting 7 at Flash Test Menu erases the program store on the db (daughter board). If this is chosen then the system will not come up and the software has to be reinstalled via pcmcia for the system to come up
When the the procedure is complete you should get value =0x0 this means that the command has been executed successfully. If it returns value = -ffff the command was not successful – try it again if it still fails then the daughter board is faulty and needs to be replaced.
Also, if erasing flash drives fails, try and do the W/R Test Flash Drive, it is another choice in the menu.
#6 return to Troubleshooting Menu and type 99 to reload the system.
After this the sysload should complete fine?
If sysload does NOT complete, you probably have a faulty software daughter board and it needs to be replaced.
If sysload does complete, the system will work fine, however the software will still need to be re-installed at some point as some files will still be missing. (Most notable of which is the psdl.rec file which is responsible for downloading the software to msdl cards).

hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. OK I could do this, but presumably I need the 23.47 s/w on pcmcia to load afterwards? We don't have a Nortel vendor, the 11c is just for me to play with in the workshop, with a view to moving to a new Meridian in the next year or so as our current Avaya switch is end of life, it won't be this 11c, anyone know where I can get this s/w?

It's not an issue if I have to rebuild it. Having read a bit, if I get into pdt by changing dip switches etc can I reset pwd2 from here, all I need is greater access to overlays to let me change a few things, I've got the keycodes and pkgs etc from 22.

AS FAR AS I KNOW THE ONLY PLACE YOUR GOING TO GET A COPY OF 23.47 IS A NORTEL DISTRUBUTOR, MUST OF THEM KEEP COPIES OF THE RELEASES OF SOFTWARE SO THERE TECH'S CAN DOWNLOAD IT TO A PCMCIA TO RESTORE A OPTION 11
