hey guys,

had a late night yesterday night, and i didnt write this down...

how do you do backups on an option 11?
is it LD 43 or 143? what is the command to start the backup.
i know this backup is stored on the flash memory. how do you restore from this backup?

the tech mentioned you can also back up to an external source so that you can have a copy of the configs stored somewhere besides the switch itself. how do you do that? and how do you restore from it? same as above?

thanks

You can do it in LD 43 by doing an EDD. If you are dialed into the switch or in LD 143 you can do an XBK to do download to your PC. I usually user xmodem for the transfer, it is slow as hell though.

When you type in the XBK command your will starting seeing a bunch of this CCCCCC. In your termina program you need to go tell it to receive the file and after you name and give it a save to location it should start downloading.

You do basic backups in LD 43 these are stored in memory and you if you lose the CPU for whatever reason you up a creek without a paddle you can't restore from memory. Now there are two other ways to do backups you can insert a PCMCIA card into the CPU and do a back to the card in LD 143 and you can also do remote backups by using the XBK command and backup to your computer.

The PCMCIA card cannot be any bigger than a 128k either. The switch doesn't like the 1 gig or even the 512k if I remember correctly.
