Hi. I maintain two pbx's at two different locations in the same city. Our main PBX has 800 DID's the remote site has 200. What is happening is when our main office is calling or forwarding calls the remote office, and because some of the Extension numbers are the same, with difference prefixes, Our main office is unable to external forward to the remote office. When a number is forwarded to this location and when after three rings, it does not reconize the the mailbox and does not trigger Meridian mail
There was a T1 that used to link the two buildings, but has since been removed, and forcing people to dial the direct numbers. Is there a fix for this? I'm not sure what is happening. Thanks

Is external call forwarding allowed (CFXA) in your class of service on the phones?

If people are directly dialing the numbers between offices, the dns should not matter. I'm a little confused on the call forwarding, is it that your main office cannot call forward but the remote office can call forward back to the main office?

You mention about a number that is being forwarded, is that from the remote office to the main office?

You may want to check your hunting on the sets, (HTA, FNA in class of service (CLS).

Also check that the FDN is to your VMail DN and the Hunt is to your Voice Mail DN of the set the call is forwarded to.

It sounds like you have two different Voice Mail systems, one for each site. So if a set is forwarded externally, you have to be sure the forwarded systems Voicemail picks up before the remote systems voicemail.

Thanks for your reply Kvepps.
The cfxa is active for this one user, and when the user forwards their phone to the other location (9 area code and 7 digit number), When someone dials the forwarded number, It works ok if they answer phone at the other location, but if not, after three rings it does not trigger the MM in order to leave a message. It rings no answer. When dialing the number at the other location directly it goes to voicemail no problem. Both locations have meridian mail but are not linked. At on time they where and we where able to forward voice messages, and dial the both locations only using a gateway Number (6)to main office or (8)to second office + the 4 digit ext number when we has the high speed link between buildings. The forwarding or external forwarding stopped working since we cancelled the high speed connection. I will check the FDN and hunt settings but they are set the same across the company.
