Is it possible to have a page file that's too big? As far as I know, windows will only page programs that aren't being used that much - not necessarially because the page file is a certain size, am I correct? We have a server with SQL Server installed, and I just read somewhere that SQL server will continually increase the amount of memory it's using until it reaches a certain (pre-defined) limit. I'm thinking about increasing the page file on that server as the people that manage SQL server are saying that they find the server quiet slow sometimes. I'm just wondering if increasing the page file will have any adverse affects (apart from using up additional disk space obviously)?

First you didn't mention how RAM, disk, network and RAID are configured on your server.
SQL Server by design will take up as much memory as possible for itself but will not at the cost of other running applicatioins or the OS. With that said, increasing the size of a pagefile is only temporary solution and it will not speed up your server since you just have a greater amount space to page to.
I would recommend you run system monitor to determine if there is a bottleneck in your SQL Server and OS environment. Hope this helps.
