Hi,

Im using excel files with odbc's and my report takes about 60 seconds to run through about 1800 records.
I use 2 databases to first compare the data to determine if it should be in the report.

Can anybody give any recommendations as to any ways of speeding up the report processing time?

Would indexes, or group on the server apply?

Thanks,
Andy

What does you use 2 databases first mean?

If you have a real database, try to use that, not Excel, as
Excel is a horrible data source, both in quality and speed.

Neither indexes or group on server server should help much, if at all, and 60 seconds isn't an extraordinary amount of time for a report if it has complex formulas.

You *might* gain something by using MS Access to read in the files and letting Crystal read from the result of a Query in Access.

I compare the contents in db 1 to db 2
to determine if it's included in the report.

Yes excel is junk, we plan on moving to MySQL within a few months. thank god.
Thanks,
Andy

Any ideas for optimizing our existing setup, without changing the db?
