OPTIMIZE TABLE drop all data of the table

Hi,

I've a table who just growing days after days ( data is keeped for 45 days and row deleted after that). So some time I use OPTIMIZE TABLE command to recover some disk spaces. But it's the second time after I do a Optimize table, the table going empty. MySql report OK after the completion of the OPTIMIZE TABLE, no any errors anywhere/

Any Idea??

PS. Is a 1 500 000 rows tables(average, +/- 1.5gigs) running on a "
Ver 11.15 Distrib 3.23.47, for sun-solaris2.8 (sparc)"
