when we call out our firm's initials show on peoples' caller ID (although when the firm calls me at home I only see the phone #.) in either case, someone in accounting says one of our clients won't answer the phone because he knows it's us calling (I guess he owes us money). We do not use DIDs. What, if anything, are my options?

if you don't use did'd, sounds like your local telco is sending the caller id! check with them and have them turn it off!

we only want to block it from one phone number. can't be done, right?

Look at the Calling party privacy feature. Essentially allows for blocking of caller id info. on a call by call basis.

Dear phonejack, I will check my NTPs. thank you.

What the called party will see is your CLID. If their system/cellphone has the facility, & your number is set up in their system/cellphone their display will show whatever label they have entered against your number. That's why, when you are at home, you see the CLID number. If you wanted to, you could send any number, by setting up the CLID tables in LD15.

well that won't help for just one ext then, will it? I just want one phone in accounting to not show the firm's seven-digit number but it doesn't sound like it's possible. thank you for your help anyway.

The calling party privacy feature will show either private or unavailable.

The feature is activated on a per call basis.

okay, then i will look that up. thank you.

You can set it up on a per call basis if you have package 301 CPP (calling party privacy). You need to set up the feature code in LD 57. Then when you want to block your number you would use the code first then dial like normal to place the call. I might be missing somthing I haven't set it up in a year or so but I do know it works.

You can set up a seperate CLID table for every indvidual extn if you were that keen or in your case set up a CLID table number 1 assign that to the extn
