Since upgrading to Enterprise manager 3.1 and Ops manager 7.5 all of our MAC work has slowed to a crawl. Anyone else notice this? Typical swaps between nodes of the cluster are all of a sudden taking up to 3 minutes each.

Yep - just been playing with the same setup myself and it is REALLY SLOW!!!!

Just of the topic a little here,

i am not that familiar with opsman but we have 1 for our cluster we have an exsisting SX2k, and our vendor has just installed a 3300 MXe controller we want to gradually migrate all our users from the 2k to the 3300 in phases.

we are going for hot desking for all users on the 3300. what I want to do is move our fixed users on the 2k to a hot desk user on the new 3300 is this possible?

I tried it yesterday where i chose a user selected mover user - selected the new 3300 cluster - chose hot desk - gave it a pin then set it off after about 3 mins i got an error saying no valid PLID or something.

Can you tell me if i am doing this right?

If not what is the correct way to achieve this?

Thank yo in advance

ianuk1974, I don't have any users on my 2k to test with (or a per to even program one for that matter!), but, one thing to check, and knowing you've been on the forum for a while I assume you have, do you have (enough) hot desk licensing?

Well, now I'm a little confused, imagine that. I just checked the AMC, you can *buy* hot desk licensing. But, if I check license and option's on the 3300, there isn't a colum there for it.
Not sure how you tell if you have hot desk licensing now. I guess I could just buy some and add it to my system and see what happens!

Hmmmm, I bought 10 each of:
52001250 3300 ICP: 1 Hotdesk Device
52001153 3300 ICP: 1 Hotdesk Device License
52001154 3300 ICP: 1 Hotdesk User License

and ended up after syncing the controller with 30 more IP users and 20 more IP devices.

So, no more licensing specifically for hot desk. If you have available IP user licenses you can build a hot desk user. The physical phone for the hotdesk user will require a user & device license.
Hope this makes a little sense. Try and create 1 IP set with the hotdesk feature first (if you haven't already), then create one user from the ESM and make sure that new user can log in to the hotdesk set. Once that is done try and 'move' the 2k user to the 3300 as a hotdesk. If it doesn't work I suspect you will need to delete on the 2k and recreate on the 3300.

It may be failing because the 3300 is telling Ops that there are no available hotdesk sets for the hotdesk user to log in to.

Seems like you are moving a DNIC user to the 3300 and changing that user to a hotdesk user. You can't set a DNIC user as a Hotdesk user, so that is most likely your problem.

I would do as MitelTech has suggested, delete the user on the 2K and recreate on the 3300.

Every physical set needs two licences - 1 user and 1 device.
Hotdesk user need only 1 licence - 1 user.

My Biggest problem is that I almost always believe what I tell myself.

Hi MitelTech,

I am totally aware of the hot desk licensing but thanks anyway. I have all ready setup 300 desktop extensions with hotdesking programmed ready to go. You order hot desk licensing on the MPT but all it does as you have found out is it gives you more ip user licenses than desktop licenses.

Paterson your right I am trying to move DNIC from the sx2k to be a hot desk on the 3300. If this can't be done i think i will have a very upset customer tomorrow as they purchased the dpnss cluster between the 2 switches purely to migrate the sx2k users to the 3300 in phases. and the users have to be hot desk users.

Hi Guys,

I have managed to successfully move a pysical DN on the sx2k which was a 4025 to become a hotdesk user on the 3300.

the error i was getting was merely the fact i had key appearances assigned to the 4025 which were unknown on the 3300 delete the key system keys and hey presto it all works.
