e.g. sending data to customers via SMS being referred to as 'Push' technology.

What is the opposite of this called? e.g. Recieving competition or survey entries via SMS. I'm after the recognized industry term for this technology.

Cheers!

p.s. If it's called 'Pull' technology I'll feel really stupid... Miles

Those Micros~1 guys sure know what they doing!

Hi Miles,
'Push' and 'Pull' are about whether a customer requested/pulled the information themselves (e.g. by selecting a page in a browser) or whether you sent/pushed it to them.

You might therefore being talking about 'Pull' technology then! or maybe you are refering to the customer 'response'?

p.s. if you are interested in SMS check out for some good articles on the issues Jeremy Nicholson, Director of a UK-based Java and Data Warehousing consultancy
