OPOS cash drawer question

Guys,

Can an OPOS cash drawer taken from a Radiant terminal--work as a "Printer Interface" plugged into the back of a TM-88? Or are they strictly for use with other OPOS terminials that plug into all-in-ones? I am assumimg the anwer is "no", or that it it must be configured as something other than Printer Interface on the BOH. Because the drawer itself is known to be good.

I am not all that up on cash drawers, so I dunno if this should be able to work, but it isn't. The receipt printer is working fine. It sees the drawer on the FOH, just does nothing when it's supposed to fire.

TIA

No. Drawers will either have a 12v or 24v solenoid and they are all pinned different, like a star drawer is wired to kick off a star printer. if you know the pinouts you can cut the end off and crimp it on so the right wires for the soenoid and sensor go to the right places.

Hello all,
I'm back vacation, everything was awesome, exept for seeing the week POS terminals in the carribean!!

I'm not saying that Bo is wrong, but I had a client wanting drawer security using Aloha. I setup epson opos drivers for the printers then setup slave drawers using their utility. after about 2 hours of messing with it I got it working. This was using "usually" printer interface drawers. Works like a charm now, but figuring it out was a b!tch. If you need the app for epson opos let me know.

I think he was asking if he could plug an OPOS interface drawer from Radiant directly into an Epson printer without making any hardware changes. Did I misunderstand?

I think you're right, sorry! I'll sit down now! :)

That is what I was asking, Bo. Client has Radiant 1210's, is moving away from Radiant hardware, but tried to hook up an OPOS drawer directly into an Epson. I guess it fits--probably an RJ-12? Anyway, so the general consensus is that this won't work? Is that what you guys have agreed upon?

If you are hooking it to an epson printer you will need to find out what the pinouts are. Which two wires go to the solenoid and which two go to the sensor, and sometimes a ground. I haven't done this and don't have a Radiant opos to look at to verify. Just cut the rg12 off and crimp on another pinned correctly.
