Hey all,

We currently are using Backup Exec 10. We are getting an exchange server, so we need to buy more licenses. Obviously, we have to buy a license of 11 (but I was told that we could "downgrade" to 10 so that our backup solution was uniform). The other option is to upgrade the other servers to 11.

So my question is, is there any reason to not upgrade (other than the money)? Are there any problems with 11 that 10 doesn't have?

Thanks in advance for your info,

Danny

11d Supports Exchange 2007 10d doesny.
11d Supports Vista, Sharepoint 2007 and few other options.

11d adds Exchange GRT Granual Restore option to restore email from Information Store backups. No need to backup brick level if you use GRT which cuts down on backup time and tape space.
GRT restore take longer but thats a trade off.
There are consideration when using GRT option such as disk space required on the media server. You dont have to use the GRT option in 11d you can backup the mailboxes via brick level as in 10d. Exchange 2007 doesnt offer brick level mailbox backup and GRT is the only option.

Steveot,

That is very valuable information, since we are getting exchange 2007.

Thanks, and have a star.

Danny
