OK, the time has come for us to renew our Network edition 20 user license with Grisoft and they are trying to sell us the AVG Internet Security SBS Edition 8.0 because support for the existing Internet Security will expire at the end of this year.

Having heard horror stories on the installation and performance of the version 8 software I thought I'd ask if any one has installed/used this latest version of the business network edition? I found one review that was quite positive apart from the Anti-spam is STILL horrendously slow with lots of messages.

Dan

Hi Daniel,

The anti-spam is still client side only, and as a result will not fit with everyone's expectations in a small or medium sized business environment.

Everything else about 8.0 is great, particularly since the 8.0 "SP1" release was distributed this month. All major bugs are resolved, as well as features much-needed in the typical business environment, within AVG Admin.

Happy to answer any specific comments or concerns you might have in detail, feel free to contact me directly.

Thanks.

OK, I have bought this and am tentatively installing it over the next few days. Can someone reassure me that the tweaks you can do to the scanning intensity actually have a positive impact on system resources?

The exisiting daily scan on all my workstations takes about an hour yet during that hour it renders the machines virtually inoperable...and these are pretty up to date machines!

OK, whilst the scanning seems to be improved on the workstation I've installed it on, the firewall is making the log on time to my test Win XP Pro workstation very slow. I've tried to add the RPC and ident services and the logon script to my SBS server but it's not making any difference. Does anyone know if I can export 7.5 firewall settings for importing into AVG 8?

Thanks

Dan
