I have a client that has an operator downstairs and when the OP is at lunch, he wants all calls answered at a phone upstairs. Currently the lady upstairs walks down at sits at the OP desk.

Also we can Lan CTE and Tapi enabled - we though we may be able to use line appearances on the soft console -but this does not appera to be possible.

Any one any ideas?

Thanks in advance PDE

Ace's solution is the easiest. You could also make a ringing service that could be turned on to ring the other phone when the service is invoked.

Thanks Ace & Biv.. we were told by the BCM tech that if the OP phone is forwarded then only call direct to that exten and DID calls would go to the phone upstairs and the trunks on the OP phone were appearances that would not forward...

The trunks are directly allocated to a feature key on the OP set -does this make a difference.

You'll probably want to do the ringing service then. Put the set you want to ring in it's own ring group, then assign the lines you want to ring to that ring group. When the service is invoked, the other phone will ring.

May want to add an extra intercom key or two on the phone upstairs, depending on what your call volume is like.

Biv - thanks. as you have probably guessed I am not the BCM tech..

Can you explain the "service" and is this invoked by the OP downstairs or the temp op upstairs? Do we use a feature key or code? Will the phone upstairs have to have appearances of all the lines or can the existing keys upstairs be left as they are.

Thanking you in advance

You would invoke the service from the main operator phone (which needs to be the control set for the trunks also). You would use Feature 871 (ringing service) to activate the feature. You could program that feature on a button to make it a "one touch" selection.

The phone upstairs wouldn't need to have appearances of the lines, but you'd want to make sure you had enough intercom keys on that set to handle your normal inbound call volume.

Thanks Biv - won't bother you until we try this.

many thanks

If the Lines Ring and Appear on the main phone, then when you use the forward key all lines that appear on the phone will follow the forward. I have 60 sites and this is the way we forwardall our lines to and Answering Service.

Ave,

That makes sense to me.. the BCM tech was adamant this would not work SO if we fwd all calls - that would be great.

Does the phone that the calls fwd too - require any special keys - loop or intercom? to cope with the increased traffic?

Also is there a feature code to fwd ? and one to disable the fwd?

(So we can test this ourselves)

Regards PDE

No just enough intercom keys to be able to answer calls. we set ours at 3 I/C

If the Lines appear on other phones, make sure the console is the trunk control set. 2221 is the default DN and Conrtol phone. If you changed the console DN =, it should follow it.

I would add a few more intercom keys on the upstairs phone and you can also insert and answer dn from the operator.
