operator panel P520

Hi all,

We have in our company a mix of p630 and p520 machines,and when one of the 630's hangs, it can be switched off by pressing the yellow button on the operator panel for about 5 seconds.On our p520's this apperently doesn't work.I've been told that you can assign a poweroff to the button somewhere in the menu of the operator panel, but I haven't found anything about that.Anyone have experience with an operator panel of a p5 machine?We don't have a HMC, servers are connected to an ascii terminal

Forgive me cause we have HMCs for all out pseries servers, but what do/can you get thru wsm? is there any sort of management ability?

Within WSM you have a function "shutdown the system", but not poweroff.I'm talking about a situation when the server completely hangs, and doesn't respond to anything anymore.In that scenario, the yellow button is quite handy.You can allways pull the plug, but I want to avoid doing that.

Hmm,

You know HMCs are not that expensive R.

If I use the WSM ...
access the HMC
then server and partition
then server management

And use the right mouse button I get a power off option...
which is what you want? Yes?

I wish we had a HMC,but unfortunately bugetting isn't up to me...
But I came across the solution in the hardware information center of IBM.Apparently you must scroll in the operatorpanel menu to 02 , then set a parameter from N to M , and then you must press the button during about 4 seconds.Then the machine will power off
