I have a BCM 3.6 with what seems to be a problem with the operator settings, when the operator sets the system for night service all calls on the main number are ans. by auto attend. just as they should be but the problem is when she uses F982 and changes attend. avail. to no, when someone hits 0 for the operator it still rings the console.I know back in the norstar world this should send the call into the general mbox without ringing the console. Any Ideas?

I think you have dn dialing enabled on the greeting table. The system sees the digit 0 and transfers it to the direct set 1.Try disable DN dialing and see if that works.

If I disable dn dialing all the dn numbers will go directly to v.mail correct? I just need the general mbox to pick up without ringing after hours.

dan,

I believe this still does send the caller to GD MB, but if they press 0, they will ring the personal attendent for that MB, which by default is the attendant.

What I am saying is when a message is being played you can dial in an extension and the system will ring that extension.

If I dial in and get your greeting you will here the message if I dial 221 the system will try extension 221. If the direct dial set is set as 221 and I dial 0 the system will try 221.

Hope this makes sense

Once she enables night ring, have her enable DND on her phone also. This should cause calls that are transferred from the AA to go directly to her MBX, without ringing the phone.

Just a note: it works for AA transfers, but not on a user xfer. User xfer to a phone DND'd bounces back to the original party.

Thanks for the input everyone, I have it set up so she can call fwd the phone at night to v.mail after she puts the system in night service. It seems to be working out fine.

If it is working great: but the problem with forwarding is that if she has ringing lines, and night ring typically causes those lines to ring for 1/2 a ring at the set, then the calls could go directly to the gen deliv instead of the AA picking them up. That’s one thing that does not happen with DND.

But like I said, if it is working for you, that’s good.
