I have bought a program which operates at 32 bit. I had to install the printer cable for its output on a serial port. The software maker said that the port may be good for only 16 bit. Right now, program won't run from the port. Just how do I know whether this is the problem and just how would I fix it. The parallel port is already supporting three printers with help of a switch box. I had earlier added a parallel card which caused the Win98SE to go haywire...so said a tech doing warranty work! My mobo is an Asus A7V133a. many thanks.

The ports are 8 bit. Shouldn't be a problem. How about restating the problem with the setup requirements for the software. Ed Fair
