we are running a server havein novell 5.1 ver. its running on caldera dos; today morning I booted the server, its showinf operating system not found; pls help me

Try booting with a DOS floppy disk, then check to ensure the C: is still viewable. If it is, sys the C: again from your DOS bootdisk and reboot to see if it will boot off the C:.

The only time I have seen this is when a RAID5 configuration got messed up. I managed to fix it apart from the fact that the server would not boot from the DOS partition no matter what I did. I just got it to boot from floppy and ran SERVER.EXE from the C: -----------------------------------------------------
"It's true, its damn true!"
-----------------------------------------------------

Try booting from a floppy disk (Netware 5 License Disk also has Caldera DOS -> use only a copy!). Copy the needed dos disk drivers, etc. to the floppy.
Make it write-protected.
Then check wheter you can access the Dos Partition. Run a virus scan on it. Then try to manually start \nwserver\server.exe
If You can't access the dos partition, try booting from the Novell CDROM. You can do a reinstall of the DOS partition, just Don't touch the netware partition.

Good Luck!
