hello folks,
How do i know the memory size of the operating system in order to create an optimum logical drive size just to store the OS,using partitionmagic? Where do i get the info since C drive property only say total memory usage? How to know the memory size if I start from a new hard disk, before the OS is installed from the CD-ROM? Will the CD-ROM memory content be the same as the OS that will be installed? If different, why is it different?

Be careful! you need space for it to work efficiently.
Like a full cupboard things will be more difficult to take out and put back in when full.
Give it at least 20% more space than the O/S takes up.
Other people may have there own opinions on this so don't just take my word for it. Martin

If you are using partition magic, you can resize after you build the OS.
Go to DOS. Dir *.* /s should give you a file space usage of all visible stuff. Adding 10% should cover all the hidden stuff. Ed Fair

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply.

Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

Adding the 10% should work unless you add the service packs with the uninstall feature.
