Hello All,

Can someone help with this...my messages are stuck in the queue (receving messages) they come up with an error "Operating System Error" I did look into the files but could not figure it out...

I'd appreciate any help...

I have a Solaris 7 box with 8.12.11 installed which is a SMTP server and supposed to receive messages from outside world...

I'm not sure if i'm messing up with some permission problem.

Thanks
Raj

Is it your pop3 server giving you this error message?. When mail comes into the system, it usually goes into a file with the user's name i.e. /var/spool/mail/joe. This file would contain all the e-mail for joe until a pop3 request comes in for it. Your pop server will compare the username/password combo and if it's ok, it will send it to the requesting client. Sendmail knows nothing about this process because once mail enters the system, it gets handed off to the local mailer (procmail)for any filtering if needed. Otherwise it gets stored as mentioned above. I don't know why your incoming mail is being put in the queue. This is usually for outgoing mail where delivery is being delayed for one reason or another.

I'm just using mail.local to devliver mail locally...i have no clue i checked the permissions /var/mail

rw-r--r-- root other root
rw------- username smmsp username

is this good...

drwx------ root root /var/spool/mqueue
drwxrwx--- smmsp smmsp clientmqueue
