Openstage 40 Set Up

Basically, the main things you need to get the phone up and running are the gateway address (IP of STMI where you built the phone) and the Extension number (AKA terminal ID). If you are using DHCP the phone should just grab an address. Oh, and if you're slaving a PC off the phone you want to go into ports and make sure LAN Port for PC is enabled. Otherwise the rest of it you really don't have to mess with unless you have VLANs and stuff.

My suggestion - you can set up a basic DLS server for free. That will allow you to do plug & play on the phones, push out logos, firmware updates and a couple of other things. You set up profiles for each STMI you have and each phone type (40/60/??) and build templates for the features you want to push out to the phone. Once you have that set up all you have to do is enter the MAC address of the phone, it's extension (E164) and assign a profile, plus go into one additional screen for gateway and enter the phone's extension number again.

There is some basic setup you need to do on your DHCP server to tell it when a device identifies itself as a phone to send it to the DLS server for more information, but it's not rocket science if you have someone that knows how to set up a DHCP scope...

Just a suggestion. Once it's done, you put your phone in, then all you have to do is plug in the phone.

Beware, the new version of the DLS server is still free, but requires a "free" license after 30 days. Our vendor was nice enough to tack on a "project management" fee and we've been waiting over 2 months for this free license.
