OPENROWSET as a data source - Image problem

I have an image problem.
I am using Crystal V8.0 against SQl Server 2000.
I am using a stored procedure containing an openrowset statement as a data source in a Crystal Report. It works for all the data types I am extracting from openrowset except image data. Whenever I attempt to add the returned image data to the report, the "not supported" message is posted.
However, running the procedure standalone in Query Analyser returns the image data as expected ?
